Whether documenting an organisation, a business, a community, an event or everyday life, I work with patience and curiosity to uncover authentic stories with honesty and clarity. Photography is more than knowing how to use a camera—it's learning how to observe, communicate and tell meaningful stories. Through tailored workshops, business training and one-on-one mentoring, I help organisations build visual literacy, equipping teams with the skills to create stronger photography and video content for their own marketing and social media channels.
I also mentor emerging and established wedding and portrait photographers, providing practical guidance on both the creative and business aspects of building a sustainable, professional photography career. Every session is grounded in real-world experience, honest feedback and a genuine desire to help others create work with confidence, clarity and purpose.

MEET Phil
Through photography and film, I help brands, organisations and people tell authentic stories with honesty and clarity. My work is grounded in a documentary approach, observing rather than directing, finding genuine moments rather than manufacturing them. In a world saturated with unnaturally polished content, I believe the most powerful stories are the ones that feel real, but still have the professional eye.
I'm Phil Yeo, a documentary photographer and filmmaker based on Victoria's Surf Coast, working across the Surf Coast, Torquay, Geelong, Melbourne and wherever a good story takes me. Whether I'm creating imagery for a government campaign, documenting a business, filming a brand story or photographing a wedding, my goal remains the same: to create visual work that builds trust, evokes emotion and reflects the people behind the story.
For more than seventeen years, I've worked across commercial, editorial and documentary photography and filmmaking. My images have appeared in publications including New Zealand Geographic, been distributed internationally through Getty Images, and been created for organisations ranging from global brands like Rocket Lab to local businesses, tourism operators and families celebrating life's biggest moments.
My commitment to the craft extends beyond commissioned work. A Master's research project exploring the relationship between people and place led to my photographic work entitled Salt being published in the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Humanity book. Along the way, I've been recognised as a Master of Photography by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers, and have enjoyed mentoring emerging photographers and judging professional photography awards.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: every person, business and organisation has a story worth telling. My role is to show it through thoughtful observation and create imagery that feels genuine, considered and enduring—work that not only looks beautiful, but helps people connect with who you are, what you stand for and why your story matters.
